North Carolina has many unique and fun staycation adventures but one in particular about 90 minutes outside the state capital is creating memories and smiles all across the state.

Open to the public 363 days of the year the North Carolina Zoo brings smiles to faces from all over the country. Hours of the zoo do vary based on the months of the year so be sure to plan your trip accordingly.

Explore 2800 acres of the world’s largest natural habitat zoo with 1700 animals from two continents.

The zoo offers many unique activities for both students attending with his or her school to everyday visitors. Take a ride on the safari or stop by any of the education booths set up around the zoo.

Explore many of the natural walking trials the zoo has to offer. Or plan your child’s fun summer camp experience.

Take time out to plan your day around the feeding schedule that allows you to see the keepers interacting with the animals.

The Zoo is currently preparing for a unique add-on which has been many years in the making. With a new continent being added, Asia. Currently, the project is projected to open to the public sometime in 2026.

Keeping the education and conservation of many of these animals that children may never get to experience outside of environments like this is key to the growth and conservation efforts being provided by the zoo on a daily basis.

From animals and education to saving local wildlife the zoo continues to bring much-needed joy and education to many individuals across the state and country. If you have a chance to take a few hours out of your day to really enjoy the sights and sounds the zoo has to offer, you will leave with a huge smile on your face.
